It gives me immense pleasure to announce (on my brand spankin new website of all places) that my new record has an OFFICIAL release date! It’s an EP, titled “Pink and Purple,” 6 songs of electro-pop dynamite as I like to say… and it will be hitting the streets, or at least the internet at large, on JUNE 2ND, 2009. So mark your calendars, folks!
I’m SO proud of this project, and I can say with absolute certainty that it is the best thing I’ve ever made. Not in a cocky / douche-y / ego-tripping kind of way, but in more of an I-stepped-up-my-game-and-I’m-feeling-good kinda way…
I’ve been working on this little bugger since approximately June of 2008 – I clearly remember the first day I started, sitting down to my computer and thinking “what in god’s name am I gonna do this time…” My listenings at the time were floating around the 80s quite-a-bit; was uncovering lots of incredible 80s synth-based-funk (Mary Jane Girls, Midnight Star, Klymaxx, etc…), and re-discovering lots of reallllly white guys I grew up on (Steve Winwood, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins) too… Well, fast-forward 7 or 8 months, and a Pink and Purple baby came out!!!
There’s more special guests on this record than last time around – some familiar faces and some new-ies too! And the album artwork (see above) is by an unbelievably talented (and patient!) designer by the name of Chad Rush, who coincidentally just had a baby! (CONGRATS CHAD!)
In keeping with the harsh reality of CDs-being-on-the-way-out, and having learned my lesson from the boxes of old discs at my parents’ house (if you want ‘em they’re yours… just kidding… not really), I’m only going to be printing up a limited run of the record. And I’ll be selling them myself from my store, HERE – packin’ ‘em, stampin’ ‘em, and mailin’ ‘em all by myself – yes we can!!! AND, if you’re a digital-music-type, it’ll be all up in iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, all the usual suspects…
So, I think that’s it for right now… I’m sure I’ll be blathering on and on some more as I approach game time…. but if you’re reading this – thanks!
Love,
A

Yo yo yo!
Any Phoenix lovers in the mix? I for one am a HUGE fan… have been for many years…
So you can imagine how thrilled I was when they posted the stems for remixers to their single, “1901,” from their upcoming release “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.” Naturally, I couldn’t resist slicing and dicing away at it…
You can download my remix for free by clicking this link:

BLOG LOVE for the Remix:
Indie Music Filter: “…rocking out to Alan Wilkis’s remix…”
Too Many Sebastians: “…you should check him [ME!] out.”
Too Many Sebastians: (again!) “…really smart. It doesn’t rape the original, which is always a good start. It simply adds a cute spin to it, it’s not all in your face saying ‘LOOK AT ME I AM GENERIC BANGER REMIX’ but it does have a hint of a nice beat that would not be out of place in a club.”
Ruby Hornet: “It definitely cuts the mustard…”

The Culture of Me: “…makes the listener yearn for summer and sun and, well, shaking asses.”
