YO YO YO YO YO YO YO YO YO YO YO… YO!

Thrilled to present the brand new video for “Old-Fashioned Girl,” featuring my #1 Big Data bandmate and homey, Daniel from Joywave. The video was directed by the brilliant Michael Lawrence, and we co-wrote the story together. It stars the weird and wonderful internet-personality and self-proclaimed “z-list celebrity,” FAT JEW.

We shot the video on location in Coney Island and around Brooklyn, using Kodak film (who even shoots on film anymore?), and we’re all super-crazy-pumped with how it turned out.

The video premiered yesterday via Pigeons and Planes. Check it out, please share it / post to FB / re-blog it / spread that shit, baby!

New PRINTS // "Tracks and Traces (feat. World War)"

I just premiered another brand new PRINTS song via my pals over at Some Kind of Awesome. The song is called “Tracks and Traces” and features the amazingly talented World War (aka Biet Simkin).

On a related note, this one and other PRINTS jams will finally be available digitally via iTunes, Spotify, RDIO, etc… starting next week, so stay tuned for that!

Hey folks - here’s a brannnnnnnd new song from my PRINTS series. It’s called “Old-Fashioned Girl” and features my pal and Big-Data-collaborator, Dan from the band Joywave. This song is actually how Dan and I first began collaborating, and what led to our forming Big Data.

Indie Shuffle was kind enough to premiere the track earlier this week - here’s the link.

Hey folks,

Another quarter comes to a close, and which means it’s time for me to archive another quarter of my weekly Spotify mixtapes… OR IS ITTTTTT??????

You see, I’ve decided to switch things up and try to simplify my system a bit. From now on, rather than creating separate archived playlists every quarter, I’m just going to keep it to a total of two playlists: one archive playlist with EVERYTHING since I started this process in 2011, and one active playlist with all the most current stuff I’ve been listening to.

That way, you’ll only need to subscribe to two playlists, going forward… nice and easy.

Last week, I made it down to Austin for SXSW. It was my second time going, and it was epic. Saw some old friends, made some new ones, got some sunburns, picked up this mysterious welt on my arm, ate lots of BBQ, and… I swear there was something else… oh yeah I SAW 10,000,000 BANDS! So many shows, so much incredible new music, and I finally got to cross seeing The Flaming Lips off of my bucket list… in a small venue, no less, standing only a few feet away from the stage, and they played Yoshimi all the way through. It was nuts.

Now that I’ve had some time away to digest, I’ve compiled a list of all the bands I saw, with a corresponding Spotify playlist of my two favorite songs apiece.

Singled out my top 5 picks in the list below.

Bands I Saw:

#1 Big Black Delta

Hands-down best show I saw. Two drummers, bassist, and frontman doing his thing. Going to be doing a remix for them soon, pretty psyched about that. Pitchfork just premiered their new video, and it’s mesmerizing:

#2 The 1975

From Manchester, UK. Wound up seeing them twice. Phenomenal musicianship & songwriting, and the singer’s voice is brilliant.

#3 Papa

Been a big fan of these guys for a long time. Great to finally see them live. Drummer is the lead singer, & he kills it.

#4 Autre Ne Veut

Blue-eyed soul. Channeling some straight-up 90’s R&B / PM Dawn kinda shit. Not kidding. Put on a hell of a show.

#5 Little Daylight

These guys only have one song & a few remixes available for the moment, but I think they’ll be all over the place sooner than later…

The Who Remixes // NBC "Do No Harm" TV Promo

In addition to my work on “Baba O’Riley” a few months ago, I recently had the incredible privilege of remixing a SECOND song by The Who! This time, it was “The Real Me,” from their legendary rock opera, Quadrophenia.

My remix of “The Real Me” was recently licensed for the national TV campaign to promote NBC’s new show, “Do No Harm.” You can view the promo and hear the remix in the video above, and keep your ears peeled next time you’re watching NBC. I’m told the promos ought to run over the next few weeks leading up to the launch of the show.

This year marks Quadrophenia’s 40th anniversary, and The Who have been on the road touring it for the last few months. I’ve gotten to go to a few of the dates along the way and have had some pretty remarkable adventures (like this one, for example).

It’s a charmed life I’m livin…
